This may be old news but I just stumbled upon this today. I’ve been a huge fan of Tom Ford since I first found out about who was behind the House of Gucci, back when I was in middle school. Back then I didn’t know or care about anything in ‘Fashion.’ I just liked watching the runway shows on FashionTV when they still had it on basic cable, when the Style Network was actually about ‘style.’ I didn’t care about the clothes, I just liked watching pretty people. When he had a model’s pubic hair shaped into a “G” for a Gucci ad campaign, I was hooked. I was like, ‘who is this man who had the balls to do this and put it in a magazine?’
Then I started to see that it was about making beautiful things. Making people beautiful and feel it on the inside as well as out. Making people want to be beautiful. He was my gateway into the dream world that is the world of Fashion. And it is a dream.
Thank you Tom Ford. For making me dream.
It’s about time there was a documentary about him. Apparently, this is the first time he’s allowed cameras to follow him. This is just before he unveiled his first collection under the Tom Ford brand.
Here’s the video:
I just loved how he says “Yves Saint Laurent,” with a French accent. Or even hearing Carine talk. She was so cute when she was like “Don’t say zat,” when Tom was critiquing Crystal Renn’s photo. I loved watching this. I could go on for days about it.
Now, someone do a documentary of Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy!
I’m sure you’ve all seen the hype already. Kate Moss. Supreme. Yada yada yada.
I’m usually late on all the trending topics…TRENDING…ugh…I hate hipsters…Anyways, this was one topic that has a special place in my heart.
Kate Moss on a t-shirt.
I DIED when I heard this was coming out. Being in Hawaii, I was afraid I would never see the tee itself in the flesh. Even the thought of bidding for one on eBay induced cold sweats late at night while I scoured the internet for clues on when it would be released. I already have THREE tees of her in a multitude of her infamous paparazzi or editorial shots. So I just thought this would make a nice addition to my collection.
Lo and behold, I see a couple of them, in black, grey, and white, on eBay. WAAAAay before the Supreme website even said they were available! So I had no choice but to buy one.
I HAD TO HAVE IT! Thank gawd, for the BUY IT NOW option on eBay.
For the small, itty, bitty price of $ 146 US.
So you can only imagine the girly shout and subsequent dramatic gasps that ensued when I got this in the mail today…
So happy right now. I can’t wait to wear it. Calculating impact of wearability on which day as I type. Get it?
One of the few style icons that I adore is Christine Centenera.
Don’t know much about her other than that she’s an editor at Harper’s Bazaar Australia.
And she obviously has killer style.
Here she is at Spring 2012 London Fashion Week…
She’s wearing a Givenchy blouse and Alexander McQueen boots.
I obviously love the outfit above. It’s so detail-oriented. The crazy and immediately noticable Givenchy top. The beautiful white Burberry Prorsum coat from the Fall 2011 collection. And the tough but elegant blue suede Alexander McQueen boots. All beautiful alone by themselves but great as one look.
And that’s why she’s a style editor.
Here’s how she wore the coat with another pair of Alexander McQueen heels also the the Fall 2011 collections. Gorgeous!
So I saw a picture of my favorite pop star Rihanna wearing a fur vest while she was in London and I immediately thought, “SICK!”
Then I remembered Balmain Homme Fall/Winter 2011 had something similar. I thought Rihanna’s may have been one and the same. After some backtracking of my tumblr posts, I found the authentic Balmain version.
I love anything fur and in your face so both are gorgeous to me. Too bad I was wrong. I love the idea of Rihanna wearing Balmain Homme.
Rihanna’s fur vest is more suited to the ladies and the rough-around-the-edges appeal of the Balmain version is more menswear.
On another note, school has kept me busy and kinda depressed to do or think about anything else so I’m kinda glad SOMETHING, as trivial as a fur vest, got me out of my everyday funk.
My tux jacket is still in pieces and super late so I have to bust my ass to finish it and not fail my tailoring class. So wish me luck anonymous readers!
I’ve been waiting for this video to come out and I was not disappointed. Beyonce brought it like she always does, even while pregnant. She co-directed the video along with Adria Petty, who also worked on the ‘Sweet Dreams’ music video, also another of my faves. Apparently, the video was inspired by 1960s pop art and the beatnik movement of the 50s and 60s. It also payed homage to Michael Jackson and Audrey Hepburn.
The above photo is just insane. It’s like an Hermès orgy.
I just die for anything Hermès.
I get this weird sense of awe and shock when I see anything from the brand, whether it’s a Birkin or Kelly held by a rich bitch at the mall or the HIGHLY coveted accessories like the Collier de Chien bracelet that’s owned by any fashionista who can afford the $1025 price tag.
I’ve wanted the bracelet above ever since I discovered who Kate Lanphear was. To those who don’t know, she’s a fashion editor/stylist who contributes to Elle US. She’s fierce. And has one of the most coveted collection of accessories in fashion.
Can you spot the bracelet? See what I mean about the arm candy. SO ENVIOUS.
