Frankie Morello Fall/Winter 2012-2013 Collection

Don’t really know much about Frankie Morello other than he casts the hottest male models out there and is based in Milan. But I loved his collection of menswear this Fall. I especially loved the the studded jackets, laptop cases, and shoes, which were also studded.

The show was divided between a sleek city-boy look that was polished but edgy, and a rich nomad that had vague influences of American Indian and Indian culture. I was more interested in the city look, which explains the lack of the other looks.

Here are my favorites from the collection:

I love the styling of the slouchy tee over the shirt. Wish I could find more tees like that.

If I can’t find the studded shoes above, these heavier looking ones would do.

The photo above is the only look I liked from the rich nomad portion of the collection. I though it was a successful look that I haven’t seen before. And I loved the slouchy gauzy shirt peeking out from under and the rusty red pants are perfect.

Can’t wait to see the pieces in online stores!

They’re prices are pretty reasonable. Especially the shoes!

Givenchy Pre-Fall 2012 Lookbook

It’s no secret that I’m crazy for Givenchy (who isn’t?) and this collection is just another reason why Givenchy is becoming the most-watched house out there by men and women alike.

It features the same design elements of previous collections like the shark-tooth lanyards from the women’s line, marine-inspired elements, tons of leather, cut-outs, men’s earrings, the ever-present sandals, street-wear, the infamous rottweiler, stars, and the color green. The blue is also a nice touch, a color which I haven’t seen at Givenchy before.

I love that they used Simone Nobili. The lookbook also features Willy Cartier but I thought he looked a bit awkward in the looks. While Simone was perfectly suited to the urban backdrop and masculine styling.

I know it’s been covered by everyone and their mother but this is my take on it.

Here are my favorites:

I’ll either get the sweater or the t-shirt version, depending on price and availability.

I love the cut-outs in this sweater.

This army jacket is MAJOR. I love the pure-white fur hood.

Okay, one Givenchy post done. Two more to go.

Good job, Riccardo.

Balmain Homme 2011 Fur Vest

So I saw a picture of my favorite pop star Rihanna wearing a fur vest while she was in London and I immediately thought, “SICK!”

Then I remembered Balmain Homme Fall/Winter 2011 had something similar. I thought Rihanna’s may have been one and the same. After some backtracking of my tumblr posts, I found the authentic Balmain version.

I love anything fur and in your face so both are gorgeous to me. Too bad I was wrong. I love the idea of Rihanna wearing Balmain Homme.

Rihanna’s fur vest is more suited to the ladies and the rough-around-the-edges appeal of the Balmain version is more menswear.

On another note, school has kept me busy and kinda depressed to do or think about anything else so I’m kinda glad SOMETHING, as trivial as a fur vest, got me out of my everyday funk.

My tux jacket is still in pieces and super late so I have to bust my ass to finish it and not fail my tailoring class. So wish me luck anonymous readers!

Til next time:)

Givenchy Rottweiler Tee

Yes, it’s basically SOLD OUT everywhere.

Unless, you don’t count shady eBay dealings.

This baby retailed for $265 US on SSENSE.

Sadly, I found out a little too late about this FIERCE tee. And it’s driving me crazy. I mean, that’s not bad for a designer tee. YSL goes for almost $500. Balmain goes for thousands. But I’ll deal.

Luckily, I found a more economical version. A knock-off, rip-off, fake, or whatever. It’s my salvation because I really wanted the Givenchy version but I can’t pay that pretty price-tag on eBay at the moment.

So Rook’s Rott Father Tee became my new best-friend.

Retail Price: $24 plus shipping

Way cheaper than Givenchy, it’s a good alternative if you’re dyeing for that vicious dog tee that every fashionisto is clamoring to own.

I can’t wait for it to arrive:)

On another note, I haven’t blogged as much lately due to school keeping me busy and highly stressed out and very broke.

Tailoring class has me making my very own tuxedo style jacket. A tux jacket that’s 100% black wool, fully lined, silk lapels and all that jazz. Very difficult to make.  Over 30 pieces to cut. Making a muslin, altering patterns, fittings, buying $30 per yard wool ( I needed 6 yards = $200), and pre-shrinking have worn me out. About to cut my final wool fabric and start constructing the jacket itself will keep me in a frenzy for the next two weeks. It’s due on October 4th, so I’m strapped for time.

This is my inspiration.

Wish me luck.

Anything related to Tom Ford is done tastefully with a little sex mixed in. I love anything Tom Ford and the movie ‘A Single Man’ was great too. This editorial captures what the movie is all about, a lonely man trapped in his chic ultra-shine minimal surroundings aching to be released.

Whatever that means. I just think it’s a pretty editorial. I love that over-the-shoulder profile shot.

Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2011 Gladiators

I loved Burberry Prorsum’s Spring Summer 2011 Collection. The studdedleather jackets, the motorcycle-pant inspired trousers, the down-to-basics colors, but the showstoppers for me were the GLADIATORS.

Yes, others have come out with their own men’s gladiators before. What made these special?

They were perfect. In my opinion, they were the perfect balance of classic gladiators, masculinity, utility, and fashion. They weren’t girly. I don’t have a problem with ‘girly’ things, but these didn’t make me feel too gay, is what I’m saying. As a homo, I can say there is a thing as being too gay.

Anyway, I thought these were cute on the runway and stored that information in the back of my mind until recently. Fast-forward to now, these babies are SOLD OUT in stores everywhere. Too bad, I want them like CRAZY. I would do anything for a pair that fits perfectly. I want no other gladiators. I won’t settle for anything less. They have a shorter version of these floating around but they just don’t cut it.

They retailed for approx. $700 USD. They probably go for some absurd amount on eBay. Wait, don’t go there on the chance they’re for sale. THEY’RE MINE!!!!!!

I’m kidding;) I checked and some asshole is pricing them for the ‘Buy It Now’ price of $2,450 USD. STUPID. Btw, they’re a size 7 US.

I can only dream of owning these now. This always happens to me. Let’s hope I find a pair or something just as good. If I do, I’ll buy them first and have the honor of telling you guys about it:)

Men and Fur

I love fur and this editorial is just beyond. I can only dream of ever touching all that fur. I can just see myself cuddled up at home on the couch with a lush fur coat and a comfy pair of sweats. Among other things 😉
