TOM FORD: OWN Visionaires Documentary

This may be old news but I just stumbled upon this today. I’ve been a huge fan of Tom Ford since I first found out about who was behind the House of Gucci, back when I was in middle school. Back then I didn’t know or care about anything in ‘Fashion.’ I just liked watching the runway shows on FashionTV when they still had it on basic cable, when the Style Network was actually about ‘style.’ I didn’t care about the clothes, I just liked watching pretty people. When he had a model’s pubic hair shaped into a “G” for a Gucci ad campaign, I was hooked. I was like, ‘who is this man who had the balls to do this and put it in a magazine?’

Then I started to see that it was about making beautiful things. Making people beautiful and feel it on the inside as well as out. Making people want to be beautiful. He was my gateway into the dream world that is the world of Fashion. And it is a dream.

Thank you Tom Ford. For making me dream.

It’s about time there was a documentary about him. Apparently, this is the first time he’s allowed cameras to follow him. This is just before he unveiled his first collection under the Tom Ford brand.

Here’s the video:

I just loved how he says “Yves Saint Laurent,” with a French accent. Or even hearing Carine talk. She was so cute when she was like “Don’t say zat,” when Tom was critiquing Crystal Renn’s photo. I loved watching this. I could go on for days about it.

Now, someone do a documentary of Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy!

Japanese BBQ|Girl with the Dragon Tattoo|ROLEX & CHANEL

So I had a busy day today with my shopping/movie buddy Hannah.

First we had some BBQ at GYU-KAKU Kapiolani.

Stupid me ALMOST LOST my iPHONE for the SECOND time. First time, I lost my first black iPhone 4 in Vans Waikele, along with my FENDI case:( I’m over it.

So I bought a new one.

Thanks to the nice waiters for recovering it for me from the bathroom.

GOD KNOWS why I took it with me! I should just tape it to my face!

Drama averted. Whew!

Then we went to watch The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo 2011.

It was sooooooooo goood. I loved how much more high-budget this version was than the last. For $100 MILLION dollars, it better be. It made me believe that it was real.

The rape scene was horrendous as usual but the revenge scene was much more satisfying than the Swedish version.

I just didn’t like the re-writing of the ending. Don’t wanna spoil it but it’s not the same as the book or the Swedish version.

HARRIET-FUCKING-VANGER!

I don’t care what anyone says, Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist is so much HOTTER. The Swedish actor was plain ugly. Sorry, but I’m really not.

Anyone who saw the Swedish Mikael Blomkvist NUDE saw what I mean. EWwwww.

I LOVED it when Lisbeth transformed from a super punk to uber rich bitch to steal $3 Billion from Wennerstrom. FIERCE!!!!!

But the most touching scene in the movie was when Lisbeth, aka Rooney Mara, sees Mikael on Christmas back with Erika Berger. TEAR. So heartbreaking.

GO WATCH IT PEOPLE!!!!! I want to see the SECOND and THIRD US versions as well.

And then we went shopping….

Excuse my hairy arm:/

It’s a ROLEX Oyster Perpetual Datejust.

The bezel is White Gold and the circumference of the face is the biggest they have.

$8500 US.

I couldn’t take it off.

I needed a l’il gift for my besty cuz I’m the worst gift giver. It’s the timing that I have to work on. This is for Xmas, kinda.

Hope my friend likes the color, it’s called Vendetta.

And that was my day out:)

Night peeps.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Yes, she’s topless and has nipple piercings.

So I’ve jumped on the hype train that Vogue started months ago on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie adaptation, it’s second version if the Swedish version is counted.

You all know the never-ending cycle of Hollywood newbie turned into polished, fabulously styled, and daringly coiffed star, plucked from virtual obscurity. Of course, the reason for this is usually the movie that said starlet is starring in.

This time said starlet is actress Rooney Mara.

I won’t write about where she came from or who she is because honestly, I could care less. All I know is that she’s an amazing actress (hey, try rocking no eyebrows and a hideous haircut while riding a motorcycle) and she has the bone structure of an European refugee model. And you can Google all that shit yourselves.

She plays Lisbeth Salander, the strange gothic investigator bad-ass made infamous the world over in Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and it’s following second and third installments.

Can you imagine this…

Rooney Mara in 2010

…turned into this VOGUE bad-ass.

Mara in American Vogue November 2011 issue

Honestly, when the Vogue images came out a few months ago they went right over my head. I was like I don’t know who this is but she looks good in photos. Cut to December and I’m reading the famous The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo  book by Stieg Larsson. And it’s a Trilogy!

I vaguely remember seeing the movie trailer for the Swedish version of the book in 2010 but quickly forgot about it because it seemed a little too dark and cerebral for my tastes.

Then the visually stunning, fractured and fast-paced trailer of David Fincher’s version of it came out…

I think the trailer’s brilliant in not showing enough of the movie that audiences recognize the storyline but not showing too much. The perfect trailer.

This motivated me to read the book faster because I stopped for a while due to boredom and wishing it got to the good parts already. Watch out though, the good parts come at you with the speed of car crash. Quick and unexpected.

Anyway, my new obsession with Rooney Mara started with the dress from Givenchy’s Haute Couture collection for Fall 2011.

She wore this to the premiere of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in London on December 12, 2011.

I think she wears it well. Givenchy Haute Couture can totally take over the wrong girl. It’s high fashion but it gives her a little sex appeal. And her PR people are geniuses because it’s a world away from her character in the movie.

And I love that she picked Givenchy to wear to the most bad-ass movie to come out in a long time.

Just to remind you guys…

Apparently, she got real piercings like her eyebrow and nipples but the tattoos were just too much of a commitment. Boo! I commend her for the nipple bar-bells though:)

Rooney Mara in W Magazine February 2011

This is my latest obsession with a female bad-ass in a movie. I’m practically creaming for the whole Trilogy to unfold in the next few years. Hopefully, TONS AND TONS of people go see this film so that they make the sequel for The Girl Who Played with Fire.

I’m watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on Friday. I CAN’T WAIT!

Movie Review coming soon:)

SPORK

I’m not very good at making up synopses of stories so I posted the trailer of the movie.

Basically, it features a kid nicknamed “Spork” because of her gender bending qualities. Get it? Anyways, she’s tormented by classmates. Mainly, a group of wanna-be Britneys called the “Biatches” are her worst enemies. With her ghetto fabulous neighbor Tootsie Roll, aptly name after her favorite dance move, Spork enters the annual dance competition at their middle school.

And it was ah-ma-zing. It’s like a mix of Mean Girls, Napoleon Dynamite, and Save The Last Dance with a dose of 80s fashion. Think spandex, side ponytails, and big hair. But it was sooooo much more. Like her random obese Chinese friend, Chunk, who spouts sage quotes when Spunk needs to hear them and kinda steals the spotlight. Her gutsy friend Tootsie Roll is the perfect mentor/protector to the insecure Spork. There are tons of other notable characters in the movie…so go and watch it! It’ll give you that good feeling at the pit of your stomach and a tear to your eye after watching it.

Drive starring Ryan Gosling

It’s all about the satin jacket above. It’s gorgeous. Well, so is Ryan Gosling but that’s obvious. Now I want one, in black of course.

I did some research and the now iconic jacket is by costume designer Erin Benach. So you can’t buy it in retail, guys:( I know, it sucks. Apparently, a LOT of work went into it. Ryan helped in the process and was inspired by his own vintage Korean souvenir jacket. I love that he’s so into fashion now. Go HERE  to learn more about it.

I don’t know if it’s true but it looks like Ryan’s stylist from Crazy Stupid Love followed him into this movie because Ryan has been sticking to fitted clothing. It’s definitely a good thing. Keep it up the good work, Ryan’s stylist!

I just finished watching Drive and it was so good. Ryan apparently chose the director of the movie so he made the perfect choice because it was amazing. From the simple hero/love story, sick driving scenes, shockingly violent death scenes, very 80s pop-like soundtrack, and Ryan’s wardrobe went well together to pull you into the movie.

Ryan’s character is very mysterious. No one knows anything about him other than the fact that he’s very good at driving and good with cars. And he likes listening to pop songs. Ryan was recently on Conan and he talked a little about it. So jealous cuz Ryan gifted Conan his own satin scorpion jacket. I was telling my friend that this jacket was gonna be big and that every guy will want one and I thought it was funny that Conan said the same thing.

And then there’s that song that’s stuck in my head. If you see the movie, you’ll know why.

I love it. It’s so unexpected in a fast-driving film like this. The song plays a very big part in the movie. It’s so NOT Fast & Furious. The soundtrack is amazing for this movie and no it does not include any of the latest Hip Hop tracks out there. Go HERE to see more of the song list.

So go watch it! You’ll love it:)

The Monster Bride

I was reminded of my love for Dracula when I visited one of my favorite blogs. It brought up the memory of  one of the most memorable cinematic moments of my early life.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, screenplay by James V. Hart, starring Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, Anthony Hopkins,  and Gary Oldman

I remember it was showing on TV on the weekend when I was 7 or something.  I was at my cousin’s house at the time, so my fave cousin and I ended up watching it. We were scared shitless but we watched it anyway. I didn’t appreciate the full movie then. But one scene gave me nightmares for weeks. But my love for vampires only grew since then.

The scene that I’m referring to is when Lucy Westenra (played by Sadie Frost) dies and becomes a vampire. She dies before her wedding and is laid to rest in her gothic over-the-top amazing wedding dress.

Watch the video to see what I mean:

Wasn’t it just to die for? Literally.

I’ve watched it a million times since then but not until I grew up a little. Kids should not watch this movie. But even when I was a kid, I knew the movie was one of the better vampire movies out there. Along with Interview With A Vampire:) But that’s another movie.

I learned the costume designer for the movie was Eiko Ishioka. She did an amazing job.

The whole movie itself was extraordinary. The sets, the scenes, the costumes, the too dramatic acting, just everything was wow times a million.

I was weirdly attracted to young Dracula. Shows you what a good suit can do.

Wynona Rider as Mina. She’s so gorg here.

Unknown Monica Bellucci plays one of the vampire brides.

This is also another memorable scene. Dracula is remembering his Elisabeta. Their costumes are almost couture like.

Hope you enjoyed that;)

Til next time.

Waiting For Forever

Waiting for Forever…

Doesn’t that just sound romantic? It’s not just a line, it’s a title of a movie starring Tom Sturridge and Rachel Bilson.

Watch the Trailer:

In the trailer it says:
“Somewhere in every childhood…there’s someone…we can’t forget.”

I can’t wait to see it! I have a major crush on Tom Sturridge. The lead guy in the movie, Rachel Bilson’s character’s childhood friend. The boy you always wished lived next door. He’s so boyishly handsome. Those bedroom eyes, pouty lips, dark hair, and bad boy smile.

He looks like he’ll break your heart and not even care in the ABOVE photo.

That smile!

I don’t even care if his hair looks dirty. He probably still smells good.

He has pretty defined pectoral muscles for such a thin guy.

Waiting For Forever just reminded me of how a childhood crush feels. The infatuation, innocent feelings, and the numbing pain of your first heartbreak. I remember all my crushes from the time I was four years old. Hey, I was boy-crazy. Still am, in fact. There was Jason, Tommy, Darien, Tim, Christian, and so on and so forth. I can go on forever. But I’ve never LOVED someone or had someone LOVE me back. I want the fairytale, I want sparks. I want everything. And nothing at all. I just want someone who adores me. Someone who’ll think of me when they’re lying in bed at night, pick up the phone and call me because they want to hear my voice.  I want to pack someone’s lunch of left-overs from the night before of a dinner I made for them. I want to have a physical connection with someone who I know I love and loves me back. I want to talk about a future with someone. Someone who wants to take me along for the ride. Someone who will make me laugh and cry and who will make me laugh til I cry. I want someone who will respect me in the morning. Is that too much to ask for? Maybe. I don’t know. I want a commitment. I want a love that lasts…maybe Forever. But til the ONE comes along, or til I find HIM. I guess I’m still waiting…Someone punch me in the face for being this sentimental and romantic.

So, for now. Tom will do;)
