JAWS

Meet Jaws.

I’m kinda in love with him.

I bought him from an antiques shop the other day. It was love at first sight. I had to have him.

He’s beautiful but deadly as he also doubles as a ‘poison ring.’

You know like Lady GaGa in Paparazzi where she kills her boy-toy with a drink that she laces with poison from her ring.

It brings to mind all the naughty things I could do with Jaws…

LOL. No but seriously I’m totally obsessed with this ring. If I wasn’t in danger of poking my eye out while rubbing my eyes with it on, I would so wear it all day.

I could gush all day about it. But I just went on a shopping spree recently and I can’t wait to post stuff on here. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That’s how much it blows my mind. But of course, they’re all from online. So you and I have to wait.

Til next time:)

Bambi Northwood-Blyth for Style Stalker’s “Desert Fox” Collection Lookbook

I don’t know if it’s the wind-toss hair, the pose, the model, the super thick eyebrows,  or the motorcycle but this image is so powerful. By far the best photo EVER from a lookbook I’ve seen yet.

Hermès Tribu

The above photo is just insane. It’s like an Hermès orgy.

I just die for anything Hermès.

I get this weird sense of awe and shock when I see anything from the brand, whether it’s a Birkin or Kelly held by a rich bitch at the mall or the HIGHLY coveted accessories like the Collier de Chien bracelet that’s owned by any fashionista who can afford the $1025 price tag.

I’ve wanted the bracelet above ever since I discovered who Kate Lanphear was. To those who don’t know, she’s a fashion editor/stylist who contributes to Elle US. She’s fierce. And has one of the most coveted collection of accessories in fashion.

Can you spot the bracelet? See what I mean about the arm candy. SO ENVIOUS.

I can only dream. And dream I will:)

G’nite.

Shopaholics Anonymous #2

“Hi, I’m Eddie and it’s been 9 months since I last went on a shopping binge like the one I just had.”

No, seriously though, I haven’t had much time to really shop lately due to lack of funds and time to really SHOP shop. You can’t find good stuff when you’re in a rush. Absolute Truth, ask any experienced shopper.

I think I’ve become better at shopping, with the help of my besty Ash. She even helped me find some of the things on this list.

My loot is part mall, part online shopping, and part thrift store. And I don’t regret buying anything! That’s the first time I can say that. I’ve always had to return online stuff, luckily this time I don’t have to. A little bit more about that in a bit.

So here we go…..It’s a lot. I’m not a shopaholic for nothing.

In chronological order:

———- Wednesday, June 8, 2011 ———-

 1) Karmaloop Order

The Notorious Kate Tee in Black

Cost: $26 US Dollars

Super comfortable. Totally outrageous but I love Kate Moss. I can never have enough Kate tees.

M. Cohen Gold Rivet Bracelet in Black

Cost: $49 US

I’ve been eyeing these bracelets for the better part of a year so I’m very happy I have one. I first saw it at Nordstrom but they sold out quick. It’s a little bit pricey but it’s M. Cohen! Rihanna and GaGa wear them. It’s kind of difficult to put on but that’s probably due to how tough it’s made. Sure to last for years.

Total cost with shipping: $91.95 US

———- Friday, June 10, 2011 ———-

2) Shopping trip to Ala Moana Shopping Center

My Fendi rubber iPhone case

Cost: approx. $83 US Dollars

I love it. I wish I would’ve gotten blue but black goes with everything.Too bad it catches so much lint. My friends know how much I hate lint. It’s nothing a good wash and a lint roller can’t fix.

 Matte Black Watch from Nordstrom

Cost: $20 US Dollars

I love Nordstrom Men’s cheap accessories. Their watches are so inexpensive and simple I can’t help but check this section out every time I go to the mall. I have way too many black watches.

———- Monday, June 13, 2011 ———-

3) SUPRA Order

SUPRA Thunder Navy Chambray Hi-Top Sneakers

Total Cost: $64 US Dollars

I first saw these on Urban Outfitters.com and since they won’t authorize my card, I had to find alternate ways to acquire these babies. Luckily, SUPRA has an amazing online shop that exempts shipping costs. If they didn’t, the shipping would have cost me $35.54 US. Yay!

4) ASOS Order

YOUR EYES LIE Cross T-shirt – White

Cost: $51.72 US

YOUR EYES LIE is an amazing clothing brand that I discovered on Asos. The little card that comes with every tee says “Sweat Shop Free.” I’ll take their word for it. The price tag totally supports that fact. One of my more expensive tees, it’s super comfortable and totally SICK in the graphics department. As with most expensivo tees, their sizes run small. Notice the XXL size. It’s more like a Large. Luckily, I’m an XL in American sizing. A little stretching and it’s a perfect fit.

YOUR EYES LIE Floral Skull T-shirt – White

Cost: $51.72 US

When I saw the Cross tee I had to see what else YOUR EYES LIE had to offer and I wasn’t disappointed. I love skulls on tees, even did a class project on it, and I had to have this unique interpretation of a skull. If you look closely, there’s ladybugs and caterpillars crawling on the pretty flowers. I can’t wait to wear it out! Weirdly enough, this tee fit perfectly.

ASOS Robot pendant necklace

Cost: $13.75 US

I’ve been eyeing this for ages. Perfect with a plain tee.

ASOS Multi-Cross necklace

Cost: $13.79 US

This is also perfect with a plain tee.

Hell yeah to FREE SHIPPING!!!

Grand Total: $131.02 US

4) eBay Order

9mm Matte Black Onyx Shamballa Bracelet

Cost: $13.99 US

I’ve been wanting one forever! Thank goodness, I didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it. And it’s unique compared to other Shamballa bracelets.

———- Wednesday, June 22, 2011 ———-

5) Thrift Store #1

Cost: $3.99

Super cheap for a Dior sweater. I’m not sure if it’s authentic but it looks like it. I can’t wear it cuz it’s a small but I HAD to have it.

Cost: $3.99

I LOVE this “ugly sweater.” It brings to mind Givenchy textiles and vintage Versace. I needed this so bad. I’m totally into patterns right now.

Cost: $9.99 US

You wouldn’t believe the happy squeal that came out of my mouth when I spotted this beauty. I’ve always wanted a jean jacket and I found one that didn’t break the bank. Most cost about $100 US. I wanted to cut the sleeves off but maybe I’ll just fold them up. I need to find another one so I can do that!

Cost: $5.99 US

My friend Ash found this for me and I love her for it. It looks faded but it’s super new and black as night. The photo treatment is to show the details. The vertical lines from the shoulders to the kangaroo pouch. It’s super comfortable and the sleeves are perfect if you want to scrunch them up. Definitely one of my favorite garments.

Cost: $7.99 US

This Izod Cardi is brand new, with tags! It says it’s a Medium but fits like it’s XL. Good for me, bad for the original owner. Trying to figure out what I’ll wear it with. Another item my friend picked out after I was over sifting through the wracks.

Total: approx. $40 US

———- Monday, June 27, 2011 ———-

6) Thrift Store #2

Cost: $4.99 US

I finally have a lumberjack flannel. I can totally HIPSTER out and wear fake eyeglasses now. Just kidding. Now that that particular trend is on the outs, I’m thinking I just might pull it off.

I finally realized how much I spent and it’s not pretty.

But like I always say “YOU. ONLY. LIVE. ONCE.”

So the GRAND TOTAL is…….

Approx. $435 US Dollars!

Not bad for what I got for it but DAMN…I didn’t realize I spent that much but I’m still happy with what I got. That total doesn’t even include the food I bought on those outings either and other assorted items.

And that’s why I know I’m a Shopaholic. Do I get a coin now?

I’m counting this past month as a Birthday month, so it kinda doesn’t count. Whatever I tell myself to feel better right?

Hope you enjoyed that. Til next time:)

Summer Catch-up 2011

Hi Blog,

It’s me, Fashionfatty. I’m sorry for neglecting you. I am glad to see that, according to the Site Stats, you’re doing well without me. Very well, in fact. Hello, over 2,000 overall views. No thanks to me. I know it’s been lonely and you’ve been sad . I promise to make it up to you. It’s been a bumpy ride this past semester in school and in life in general. I’ve been through a lot and so has the world. Now that everything has calmed down in my personal life, I’ll make more of an effort to make consistent posts. I know it’s been a while but now, I’m back!

– Eddie

Okay, now that all that nonsense has been said…let’s catch-up shall we.

1. RIP Elizabeth Taylor

2. My heart goes out to the victims of Japan’s Earthquakes and Tsunamis.

Click  here to donate  to the American Red Cross. Although there is a minimum donation amount of $10. If not, then I’m sure there are other ways you can help.

3.  Another school year, Fall 2010 – Spring 2011, has ended

I’m so happy that this year is over. It started out great. I made two dresses that I’ve very proud of.

I’m very proud of this dress. Completing this dress showed me I can actually take an idea from my mind and bring it to life, and even better than what I thought it could be. The materials, lace and satin, were a bitch to work with, but it was all worth it. I added the bow at the last minute to make it, as someone said, “more Valentino” and less scandalous. The bust is a deep-V after all.

The nude champagne dress was actually made before the black dress, both made for my Draping class last Fall. It’s a more classically romantic dress but it can be updated with the right accessories. I love the  scarf detail at the back, it flows while you walk. Either way I “got it out of my system” as my teacher would say.

Then as the second semester rolled by, I got more anxious and restless in my classes. I couldn’t explain it. I got lazy, couldn’t wait to get out of class, and did horrible work, in my opinion.

Then I had to go to the hospital. Without getting too deep into it, my recent difficulties of breathing and fatigue were due to something more serious than I thought. But during two days in the hospital, I couldn’t wait to go back to school. I got a reality check and the scare of my life. I’ve had to make lifestyle changes and luckily feel better physically. But due to the seriousness of my condition, I’ve had to make better choices. Whatever I had going on before that became insignificant.  I knew I had to make changes, in my life and attitude. I also got it out of my system and now I feel more motivated to create new and better stuff.

I didn’t have much time left in school after the visit to the doctor but I was able to make this dress. Excuse me for it’s simplicity but I made it in under a week. I think it turned out okay but it’s not perfect. Quick fact: Chiffon is a BITCH to work with. My teachers warned me, point taken.

Cheers to life scares and the future!

Down to more trivial things…

4. MUSIC

It’s always been a big part of my life. I sing to myself often but never in front of an audience. I never got over that fear of being judged, so no American Idol for me. And I’m positive there are more motivated and better singers out there. I’ve shifted a lot from the club music that Lady GaGa has had us mesmerized over to more subdued stuff like R&B.

Which brought on me buying Alicia Keys’ latest album The Element of Freedom on iTunes. Then I discovered this hidden jem:

Distance & Time – Alicia Keys

This song talks about long-distance relationships and being apart from your lover but I think it’s universal. For me, it’s about finding your soulmate and having the patience to wait. Either way, I think it’s just a beautiful song.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Stacie Orrico’s Beautiful Awakening.

And my summer jam is California King Bed by Rihanna. I knew this song was a hit way before it was released as a single. Her music video and live performance of the song are just flawless.

I thought Rihanna was just another studio-voice singer, where they sound better on the album. I’m very happily surprised she sang the song as well live as on the record. I don’t think people give her enough credit. Try reaching those high notes. She’s only gotten better through the years. I’m definitely now one of her biggest fans.

5. Fashion

I needed a break from the “fashion world.” I was sick of being so into material things and appearances and beauty. Probably due to the scary things going on in my life and the world I just couldn’t put much focus on it for a while. Hence, the long hiatus from my blog. Now that everything has calmed down a bit, I can indulge in my little obsession with all things beautiful.

Here’s the off-shoot of fashion, my treasured Fashion Mags:

The first batch was given to me by my best-friend while I was in the hospital. You don’t know how much it meant to me. It was the gesture not the magazines that mattered. Hospitals are boring, just so you know. These were a welcome sight and distraction.

Thanks to my friend Ashley Q for the brass with black cord bracelet she made for me:) Contact me if you want a bracelet commissioned.

The magazines above are a must-have. Looking through them all, it was worth the $20 I spent. Britney in Dolce & Gabanna and Givenchy is just amazing. Lady GaGa kills it as always. The Vman is full of “candy” as my friends would say, yummy in fact.

As for real fashion, I haven’t seen any of the recent collections to make an informed opinion. But I do see a lot of camels and nudes, shocking colors, ultra-feminine designs, masculine lines, and the apache-rug patterns from Proenza Schouler Fall/Winter 2011/2012 collection, which are turning up on shoes, t-shirts, and bag.

Here’s an example of the classic Apache pattern:

And if that isn’t enough to understand what I mean, here are photos from Jak & Jil blog taken in the Proenza Schouler studio:

See more here.

I’m predicting everyone and their mother will be wearing an incarnation of the pattern come Fall 2011.

Well that’s it for now. I’m getting sleepy and it’s almost 4 in the morning in lovely Hawaii. Goodnight my anonymous readers.

Til next time;)

Wanted List #3

Oh gawd here’s another list again….

I can’t help it, for some reason it makes me feel good to make lists of stuff. I don’t do it obsessively but when I do, this calming sense of relief comes over me. I think it’s cuz my shallow mind can only hold so much information and trivial shit at one time 😉

Ok, get to the point already…So here’s a bunch of things and  1 person that I’ve been obsessing over for the past few days. So much so that I feel like I need to do some kind of catharsis and set it free into the ether, well the internet I guess you can say.

The list is in no particular order, other than the order they pop into my head.

1. Richard Armitage in North & South

I fell deeply in crush with him in the movie “North & South,” still don’t really know what “North” and “South” they’re referring to in the film but I loved the storyline. I know the poster doesn’t do him justice so just Google him for better shots and go to Youtube for an awesome SPEEDO action. Apparently the movie was adapted from a book, haven’t read it but now I want to. It’s kind of like Pride & Prejudice, the Keira Knightley version in 2005, but this BBC mini-series came out a year before P&P. So the similarities in the end scene are kind of suspect. Like P&P copied N&S. Who knows? (Mental Shrug)

I watched it on Netflix, so the fact that the movie had me in weighted anticipation for 4 straight hours is saying a lot.

This is the scene that cemented it as one of my all-time faves…

Doesn’t he look hot here? Those soulful eyes just devastate me.

Also look for him as Harry Kennedy in The Vicar of Dibley as the love interest of Dawn French’s aforementioned vicar, the Reverend Geraldine Granger. I loved only watching anything that had Dawn French and him in the scene. Being a fluffy aka fat person myself, the fact that such a stud like him could fall in love with Dawn French’s character in the show is kind of squishy-feeling-in-the-bottom-of-your-stomach-good inducing to the highest power. And to put it in plain terms, orgasmic but not quite:) Well, I hope you get the idea of what I felt after watching North & South. My definition of “my type” totally changed after I saw Richard Armitage. Like many of his fans have already lamented, why isn’t he more famous?!!!! Apparently he’s going to be in “The Hobbit,” so maybe that’ll help.

Onto something more basic…

2. Mini-cross stud earrings from Jennifer Zeuner

I need these earrings like I need water. My silver pyramid stud earrings have had it, after wearing them for months on end. These will be a good addition to my budding earring collection. I just wish I could find these same earrings in white gold. Gold is hypo-allergenic so it minimizes chances of infection, or so I’ve heard. Gold-plated isn’t good enough, but that won’t stop me from buying these. For $110US, I think they’re pretty reasonable considering how difficult cross stud earrings are to find. Try Google-ing them and you’ll see what I mean.

3. ROLEX watches

That’s actually my wrist in the picture so pardon me for the horrible-ness of my gorilla- like appendage. To tell you the truth, I couldn’t close the snap closure of the watch because of my thick wrist. It’s a frequent problem for me in the case of bracelets from Hermes and anything that might have a fancy closure for the wrist. I don’t think losing weight would even make a difference.

Rolex watches are way out of my reach so the watch in the photo obviously isn’t mine but someone I just met who kindly let me take a photo of it when they saw how in-awe of it I was. I’m rich by no means so seeing a mega-expensive watch in my everyday life isn’t a normal occurence. And the person that owned it didn’t even seem like the type to own one, i.e. Japanese or White. In fact, the person was Filipino. Ha! And if anyone doubts the authenticity of the watch, as far as I knew it looked real and the watch itself was engraved on the inside of the bracelet as it was an Anniversary gift. I highly doubt, fake Rolex watches get engraved.

Maybe in the near-future I’ll be able to afford a Rolex watch of my own. And hopefully, they have bracelet extensions for my humongous wrists!

Now something a lil-bit more attainable…

4. Markus Lupfer S/S 2011 Menswear

I love this look. A sweater paired with black jeans is my basic uniform. Add an appliqued skull on the sweater  and I’m SOLD. His sweaters go for under $400US so they aren’t cheap but if you have the spare change, they are a little bit more attainable than say a $7,000 Rolex watch.

Here are some other tops that I liked…

I die for those spots!!! The subtle detailing on the shoulders are nice.

photos from SLAMXHYPE

This is how I want to look from the tousled hair down to the black skinny jeans except for those grimy sneakers….Gross. The sequined skull is pure love!

For more from this collection go here.

Check out Markus Lupfer online for more.

For my feet, I want these…….

5. George Cox X 5cm Creeper Boots

photos from SLAMXHYPE

I’m on the outskirts of dressing full-on Emo and Goth with all the black stuff I wear and then my NEED for these Creeper boots are just insane! Well, I could care less because these boots are by far the best designed boots I’ve seen since Dior Homme came out with something similar a few seasons ago. And they would set me apart from all the boot-wearing Homos and Hipsters that are now populating every Metropolitan area in the United States. UGH.

The black-painted crepe sole was very thoughtful, as any Vans-wearing hipster knows beige crepe soles do not age well. And the side-zip is another thoughtful design feature because no one has the time to lace boots when you’re in a rush to get out of the house. So for $280, I’m not sure in what currency, they sound reasonably priced if it’s in US Dollars. Too bad they’re only available in the 5cm store in Hong Kong:( I want these so bad.

And now for the final item on this list….

6. The Givenchy Pandora

This bag is going for approx. $1,650US at the Ala Moana’s Neiman Marcus. And I’ve actually seen and touched it first hand to see how good of a deal that price is. And I think it’s a small price to pay for Givenchy. I mean, it’s motherfuckin’ GIVENCHY! But honestly, other than the obvious label-whoring I’ll subject my self to with “Givenchy” plastered in the front of the bag, the bag itself is I think very modern but also Seasonless. It’s also the perfect size for all the  shit I lug around with me on a daily basis. Meaning I can use this bag for years until it loses it’s usefulness. So as soon as I gather the funds, I’m gonna run to the store and have this baby in the bag. A Neiman Marcus shopping bag, that is.

The things I listed may seem extravagant and like I’m reaching for the stars, but I say why not? If you’re gonna dream, DREAM BIG. And like I said in my New Year’s post, I’m hoping 2011 will be a year where some of my dreams come true. Corny as that may sound.

That’s it for now.

G’night, I’m gonna go immerse myself in my cold bed sheets now.

I Want LANVIN, not diamonds!

Sick sick sick!!!

I just think this video of Lanvin’s collection for H&M is so cute and funny.  Natasha Poly is so major. The whole schtick about wanting Lanvin, not diamonds or flowers is genius. Fashion should be fun, not so serious. I love how it’s so Lanvin:) That’s the most important thing. Fashion houses should stay true to their vision. And Alber Elbaz is all about consistency.

I just wish the jewelry were chunkier like these earrings and necklace:

I was also expecting them to do a piece like this necklace:

I don’t think the pieces shown in the video were exclusive to Lanvin, the whole pearl and chandelier motif is just too common. But I do know Lanvin has done pieces like them in the past. That was my only criticism.

Too bad we don’t have an H&M in Hawaii yet:(

Or else I would be looking for a necklace like this one in the store once the collection came out:

This necklace just makes me happy:)

On another note, I’m so sorry I haven’t been posting any new posts. School has just become so time consuming with mid-terms and final projects.

Here’s what I’ve been working on:

It’s not finished yet and it’s late. More pictures once I’m done:) Hope I can still get an A if I get extra credit.

Obsessions #1

Here are my current obsessions that I just can’t get out of my head.

Guess what they are? I’ll give someone a cupcake if they guess them right. I tried to make it really obvious.

I have tons more obsessions but these are the ones that popped into my head.

Hello Again…

It’s been too long since my last post.  I just felt like I didn’t have anything to offer the fashion blog universe (my term for the millions of fashion blogs that pop up every second). After a long hiatus, I feel like blogging again because my brain can’t contain all my crazy obsessions, wants, music finds, and, of course, fashion happenings that blew my mind while I was away from my precious blog.

So here’s what has happened in my life and in the fashion world while I was “away” from this blog of mine:

– SAILOR STRIPES

Yes, I sported horizontal stripes in recent months. Considering I’m not stick thin, I found a way to rock this look. I predict this trend will peter out pretty fast but it still won’t stop me from wanting a black and white striped cardigan.

– Military Green

It’s everywhere. Military green, I mean. Not Kim Kardashion, though some may argue that she is in fact ‘everywhere.’ Look at the military green Hermes Birkin. Bag envy big time! I’m green with it. Get it. HA!

*Note: Beiges, Khakis, Camel, anything neutral is in right now.

– Sweat Pant Chic

I WANT THESE! They’re Balmain Homme sweatpants. Approx. $600US. A quarter of the price of their jeans. Sweatpants are like man leggings. Worn over boots as seen above, so fresh. Talking about leggings, here are the new versions….

– Jeggings

Yes, those are jeggings. They look like the real thing right? Amazing. Wish they made them for guys…but the man bulge could be a problem. Told you military green was everywhere. Love the model’s hair…love her whole look actually.

– The Hair Cut

I’m not gonna lie. Rihanna was my hair inspiration. This is what my hairstylist friend came up with. I love how it came out, but I can love it a lil more. I’m going in soon to get the blond to white blond like the right pic of Rihanna.

–  Kate Lanphear for Eddie Borgo Jewelry

I DIED! I love this woman. Kate Lanphear is a style icon. Finally someone saw her as more than street fashion blog fodder. Now she’s the face of Eddie Borgo Jewelry. Her signature ultra white blond hair is perfect for this shoot. I wonder if she styled it too. Stacking bracelets on her arms is also one of her signatures. Look for her name in Elle US fashion editorial credits, and see what she can do. See more here.

– Pierre Hardy Colorama Graff Sneakers

The instant I saw these babies I WANTED them. They were made for the Autumn Winter 2010 collection. Alas, my budget for designer sneaker shopping is nonexistent.  And believe me, my heart is breaking. There are so many I want to get out there. Shoe post to come soooooooon.

– Rolex Air-King

The Air King is my favorite model of Rolex watches. It definitely looks like a Rolex and has the appropriate price tag, but it’s less flashy and more timeless. Leave the jubilee wristband for the old-timers. I first saw the Air King on Hypebeast, see here. If only the watch above didn’t have the bold numbers…I like the look of the one seen on Hypebeast better.

And…..

Can I just say I resent the fact that every wanna-be fashionista out there is grabbing up Alexander McQueen pieces left and right. If I see one more skull scarf on a fashion blog I might lose my shit!

Love all the people that took a peak at my blog while I was away.
